The Red Clover Collective is devoted to cooperative living and collective ownership in urban space. We’re working towards a world where sustainable living, social justice, and artistic creation are central values. We base our collective around the principles of consensus.

One way of working toward our goals of sustainable living, social justice, and artistic creation is through education and sharing. So this summer, we are looking for an intern to share our experience of living in collective together.

We hope to find someone who would love to work in the garden, and is available to do work around the house in exchange for a reduced rent, which will be $200 plus your share of the utilities. The internship will be from May to September 2010.

E-mail us at redclovercollective@gmail.com to let us know you’re interested and tell us a bit about yourself.

The Red Clover Collective is an intentional community committed to cooperative living and collective ownership in urban spaces. We’re working towards a world where sustainable living, social justice, and artistic creation are central values.

(UPDATED) We have a room open as of April 2010. There is a three-part membership process and we are looking for at least a two-year commitment. We’re a non-smoking and mostly vegetarian community located in Better Waverly. We’re looking for a collective member who is respectful of diversity and is queer friendly. We cannot currently consider any couples for membership because the collective is at capacity.

We’re also looking for friends and allies in our mission to create sustainable urban communities.

Update: We’ve reached our cap on RSVP’s, so if you know anyone who has expressed an interest, we’re starting a wait list. We’ll be sending out a reconfirmation two days prior to the workshop. We do this as a reminder, because, inevitably, peoples plans change. The slots left by those who don’t reconfirm are filled by the wait list folk. For further info.: 443-286-6695

Red Clover member, Toma Solano, will be teaching a fundamental carpentry skills workshop for women on December 19th @ 11am – 3pm. We’ll be building window boxes (fer yur plants!).

If you’ve ever wanted to work with wood, but were intimidated or simply didn’t have access to the knowledge and/or tools to do so, this is the workshop for you. If you’re afraid of power tools, there is no need. You will be briefed on simple, standardized precautions to keep yourself and those around you safe.

Tools, safety equipment, and materials will be provided. We’d like to suggest a $5 donation to cover materials. A potluck lunch will be served at noon. So please bring a side to share. Toma will make something tasty and vegetarian.

Though it makes us squirm a bit, we need to ask everyone to sign a waiver. We’d just like to preserve our ability to share such experiences with the community in the future.

Toma is a carpentry instructor at the Chesapeake Center for Youth Development and has 10 years of carpentry experience.

For additional information please call 443-286-6695.
