Update: We’ve reached our cap on RSVP’s, so if you know anyone who has expressed an interest, we’re starting a wait list. We’ll be sending out a reconfirmation two days prior to the workshop. We do this as a reminder, because, inevitably, peoples plans change. The slots left by those who don’t reconfirm are filled by the wait list folk. For further info.: 443-286-6695

Red Clover member, Toma Solano, will be teaching a fundamental carpentry skills workshop for women on December 19th @ 11am – 3pm. We’ll be building window boxes (fer yur plants!).

If you’ve ever wanted to work with wood, but were intimidated or simply didn’t have access to the knowledge and/or tools to do so, this is the workshop for you. If you’re afraid of power tools, there is no need. You will be briefed on simple, standardized precautions to keep yourself and those around you safe.

Tools, safety equipment, and materials will be provided. We’d like to suggest a $5 donation to cover materials. A potluck lunch will be served at noon. So please bring a side to share. Toma will make something tasty and vegetarian.

Though it makes us squirm a bit, we need to ask everyone to sign a waiver. We’d just like to preserve our ability to share such experiences with the community in the future.

Toma is a carpentry instructor at the Chesapeake Center for Youth Development and has 10 years of carpentry experience.

For additional information please call 443-286-6695.

About the film
From the early silents of Lubitsch to The Crying Game and beyond, gender-variant characters persistently provide cinematic shock upon the revelation of their “true sex.” Turning the focus away from the gender-variant body, “Equal+Opposite” instead explores the range of physical and emotional reactions by “protagonists” to transgendered bodies, from curiosity to revulsion. “Equal+Opposite” premiered at MIX21: The New York Queer Experimental Film Festival in October 2008.

About Rahne
Rahne Alexander is a writer, musician and multimedia artist from Baltimore. She is the guitarist and songwriter for the girl garage band The Degenerettes and a senior organizer of the Charm City Kitty Club. Her video art has screened in galleries and film festivals across the country, and she is a frequent contributor to City Paper and Smile, Hon, You’re In Baltimore.

Led by Evelyn and Rook
Sunday, April 5, 1-4 pm

Consensus is a group decision-making process that aims to be cooperative, inclusive, and egalitarian. It goes beyond majority rule—it works to include all voices, to address all concerns, to arrive at a decision that the entire group can support.

In this workshop, we’ll discuss the theory and practice of consensus. In particular, we’ll consider group process and the skills necessary to make consensus run smoothly. Finally, we’ll engage in exercises to practice those skills.
